An Ice Man. Fuel Oil and…GEvolution

Growing up, I had a best friend. His name was Leon Vitucci, my grandpa or my mom’s dad. Up until he passed away in 1989, that guy was the person I wanted to do everything with. The park, watering the lawn, sweeping the curb, play chess, get Carvel with, go to Dunkin Donuts with, cross any bridge in NYC with, say Latin prayers with…you get what I’m saying. Well, grandpa in the 1930’s was an Ice man. An immigrant from Bari, Italy, Leon would make he rounds in New York delivering ice for iceboxes, long before the electric domestic refrigerator …

Train for the LOVE of your life

When we first set out on this journey of training for life, we can barely skip a rope, push-ups are our nemesis & daily aches and pains have us believing we are to be prisoners of it. Then we consciously choose to make the effort to stay with it. We choose to make our training a ritual habit. We begin to understand that training is no longer a societal “have to,” it’s an internal & authentic WANT TO. We learn that honoring our bodies exercise and challenged movements  makes us stronger at every layer. It’s beautiful. It’s an evolution   …

Why Water?

Water is critical for our bodies. Not coffee (although it feels that way :), not tea, not soda, not juices. Just good ol’ water. Here are some knowledge bytes: –  The human brain is composed of 95% water; blood is 82% water; the lungs are nearly 90% water. –  Water is also the single most critical nutrient for health, growth, and development. It is not only the most important nutrient in the body, but also the most abundant. – A 2% drop in body water can cause a small, but critical shrinkage of the brain, which can impair neuromuscular coordination, …

Empower. Embrace. Evolve. Emerge. The Cornerstones of GEvolution.

I was at my husbands grand parents camp. It was the summer of 2014. The sky was a radiant blue and I was sitting in a lounge chair with my phone in hand and the warm sun on my skin. My wheels were spinning and my mind was open. My bare feet grounded on the green and a warm breeze around me. I could feel my creativity percolating. I wanted to capture the essence of GEvolution Fitness. I wanted to convey that what I was building meant more than a place to workout at. I wanted to give meaning to …

Wrestlemania and Trust

I look back to April 2018. My brother was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and we had tickets to Wrestlemania. As I sat in my seat, I peered at the venue. I peeked the steel cables hung from the ceiling holding the intricate light sets up. I observed how the stage was comprised of many smaller pieces put together like a puzzle. I checked out the row of computers being manned & controlling the lighting patterns. I experienced timed fireworks and pyro. I saw MANY camera people. I noticed people-less cameras being moved on pulleys. I heard …

re-build from injury, tragedy, trauma

I deeply believe in process. I deeply believe in trusting it. Knowing that each step we take can be towards a build or a re-build. from injury.from tragedy.from trauma. I believe that if we want to truly experience a healing for ourselves, we can. We just have to abide by and trust the process, sometimes with patience we never even knew was possible. It may take additional investment of time, money, discipline, guidance, but it can and will happen. In this era of one click satisfaction and google seconds, we are becoming heavily conditioned for shortcuts, quickness and easy frustration, …
