Don’t Take Compliments

I am not allowing myself to take compliments anymore. Most of the time, when I “take” compliments, I only KINDA take the one that are referring to a completion of some task, and then most of the time they still zip right over my head because for some deep, illogical reason, I don’t feel as if I am worthy of the compliment. It is a fleeting moment. There is no depth. When I am given compliments on who I am at the core, or the gifts I have been given as a human being, well then THOSE compliments go in …

Living in Abundance! GAINS BABY!!

Recognizing gains instead of losses. It’s this thing I’ve been doing that helps me to remain in an attitude of gratitude as opposed to FREEEEEEAKIN’ Out because I think that time is running out, our money is gonna run out, our whatever is gonna deplete. It’s that scarcity mindset. That fear that, if I do this, or say yes to this, then I won’t have enough of “something” when the NEXT cool thing or even day comes along. It’s been helping me make decisions not from that standpoint. I focus on what the gain is from my action, or non …

Smile. On Purpose.

I am going to purposefully smile more. It feels good, like real good – even in the most tense of moments. I found a huge batch of photos and picked them with Ricky a few nights ago. Pics from high school, pics from college, pics from my 20’s. “Mommy is that you?” Ricky said pointing to me with my once long blonde hair. “Yeeeep.” I said time and time again. After a few more pictures, I lost his attention to some wrestling magazines I had saved because my brother was on the cover. His focus was now on that of …

Thoughts & Words. Strength or Weakness.

Behavior Kinesiology is a branch of kinesiology (the study of human movement) that studies how thinking directly impacts our physical body, stress symptoms & the effects on our immune system.  Behavioral kinesiology helps us to determine if we are carrying old limiting beliefs that are continually self-sabotaging. With that being said, words are very powerful. So powerful, that even multiple tests performed in the field of  Behavior Kinesiology, have found consistent links between self-sabotaging thoughts & negative speech and increased or decreased strength and/or our output from our muscles. Dr. John Diamond, the founder of Behavior Kinesiology noted that “muscles get stronger or weaker depending on the …

New Year. New You. No Thank You.

I’m not gonna do the whole “new year, new you” thing. Not even close. Instead, I offer this reminder. …Every moment of every day entitles us to make our own decisions, no matter what four digits follow the month & day. We are our present, not our past & our present decisions craft our future. I welcome us to embrace our ability to craft that future, moment by moment. Choose to immerse ourselves into what makes us happiest. Choose to fill our body with nutritious fuel. Choose to activate our bodies daily so we can experience longevity & optimal well-being. …

I have been prescribed naps.

I have been prescribed naps. This mom, wife, business owner, personal trainer, athlete, overall energetic & excited human being has been prescribed “naps.” (among other things) Sounds pretty fucking fantastic, doesn’t it? Doctor’s orders: I have to sleep a FULL 8+ hours every night AND “nap” for up to 2 hours during the day. Who wouldn’t want this lifestyle?  Who wouldn’t want to just sleep? Well, let me tell you, not me, not you, not anyone. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, because in this case, all my body wants to literally & physically do IS sleep. After a little over 1 month …

Live From Within –

The moment had arrived. It was 13 challenging and character building weeks after I officially and suddenly decided to compete in my 1st figure competition. There I stood, pumped up, “glam”ed up and “bling”ed out, in line with some of the most amazing woman I had ever had the pleasure of sharing time and space with. The line was shortening as each brilliant woman stepped on stage to show the audience and judges what their personal commitment had created. For some this was a bucket list check off, for some this was a way of life. For me it was …

Puzzles

Puzzles. I used to always do them as a child, especially with my grandma. She was the queen of puzzles. I would sit alongside of her for hours in her house in Queens, NY with 1,000 pieces of “whoa” laid out before us on a cutting board the size of a stovetop.  As we would devote our focus and patiently search for the right pieces, we would eventually get into a groove and exceptionally beautiful pictures of landscapes, homes, horses, kittens, cities, etc. would start to emerge. Once we were in that groove, we just couldn’t stop. We were dialed in. We looked forward …

Kim’s Ass or Jen’s Arms. Neither.

How many times have we seen the titles, “Have Legs Like These,” “So & SO’s Ab Routine,” “Get This Person’s Ass,” “Tighten and Tone, just Like (insert A-List Airbrushed Celeb’s Name Here)” It’s everywhere. Magazines, Billboards, TV, Internet, Radio, Social Media Ads! AHH! It is no wonder why many of us lose sight of our “self.”  It is because we are being heavily bombarded by information telling us, we should want to look “like this.”  I couldn’t possibly say how many times, as a personal trainer and coach that when I ask a new client what their Fitness Vision is, I am met …
