Everyday, in every way…

I’m bringing this little ditty back for one of our awesome team members… You know who you are! BUT, I know anyone reading it, can soak it in! “Every day, in every way, I am getting better!” Say it everyday, especially when your mind is bogged down with “problems” or negativity. Neutralize those ugly thoughts with this phrase. Give your mind (sub conscious & conscious) the opportunity to be filled with empowering language. Be filled with the encouragement you to overcome, grow, thrive, LIVE!

Why Water?

Water is critical for our bodies. Not coffee (although it feels that way :), not tea, not soda, not juices. Just good ol’ water. Here are some knowledge bytes: –  The human brain is composed of 95% water; blood is 82% water; the lungs are nearly 90% water. –  Water is also the single most critical nutrient for health, growth, and development. It is not only the most important nutrient in the body, but also the most abundant. – A 2% drop in body water can cause a small, but critical shrinkage of the brain, which can impair neuromuscular coordination, …

re-build from injury, tragedy, trauma

I deeply believe in process. I deeply believe in trusting it. Knowing that each step we take can be towards a build or a re-build. from injury.from tragedy.from trauma. I believe that if we want to truly experience a healing for ourselves, we can. We just have to abide by and trust the process, sometimes with patience we never even knew was possible. It may take additional investment of time, money, discipline, guidance, but it can and will happen. In this era of one click satisfaction and google seconds, we are becoming heavily conditioned for shortcuts, quickness and easy frustration, …

But First…

…Mobility! All of our training sessions begin with nourishing our flexibility and mobility. In this house, your awesome body isn’t going anywhere near those weights until… First, Foam Rolling.Second, Static Stretches.Third, Active/Dynamic Mobility Why? Well, let’s make it simple. We want to recruit more muscles fibers to work for us, but if they are all bound up in traffic jams, AKA “knots,” how the hell are they gonna get to work? Chances are they probably won’t, and then their colleagues and fibers from other departments start doing their job for them, (not as well of course…because IT’S NOT THIER JOB), …

Here’s Your Permission to take a BREAK!

I’ve learned it’s okay, soooo fukn okay to take breaks. I’m tired this afternoon. There, I said it. It’s almost 2pm and I’m tired. I’ve HAPPILY & PRODUCTIVELY worked 14 hour days back to back. Have work multiple “hats” during that time, and now I’m tired. So, I’m taking a break this afternoon. And it’s okay. I have no inner voice telling me, “I’d better do this or I will fall behind,” or “I’d better do that,” or “stop being lazy,” or any of that bullshit. I have set free judgement. I have set free this asinine idea that if …

Smile. On Purpose.

I am going to purposefully smile more. It feels good, like real good – even in the most tense of moments. I found a huge batch of photos and picked them with Ricky a few nights ago. Pics from high school, pics from college, pics from my 20’s. “Mommy is that you?” Ricky said pointing to me with my once long blonde hair. “Yeeeep.” I said time and time again. After a few more pictures, I lost his attention to some wrestling magazines I had saved because my brother was on the cover. His focus was now on that of …

your mind is a brilliant fuck you upper.

What does that title even mean? Well, it’s brilliant and it’s brilliance in negotiation tactics, can, well, fuck us up. Lemme show ya. Even as a child develops, as parents we are taught to explain “why” we have asked a child to do something or ‘why” these are the steps involved in doing it. This way, the child connects with the task/learning at hand and has a much better chance of seeing it through…. Well, Today I invite you to revisit YOUR why. Why do you workout? train? have a membership at our gym?I was saying this morning as I …

Thoughts & Words. Strength or Weakness.

Behavior Kinesiology Behavior Kinesiology is a branch of kinesiology (the study of human movement) that studies how thinking directly impacts our physical body, stress symptoms & the effects on our immune system.  Behavioral kinesiology helps us to determine if we are carrying old limiting beliefs that are continually self-sabotaging. With that being said, words are very powerful. So powerful, that even multiple tests performed in the field of  Behavior Kinesiology, have found consistent links between self-sabotaging thoughts & negative speech and increased or decreased strength and/or our output from our muscles. Dr. John Diamond, the founder of Behavior Kinesiology noted that “muscles get stronger or weaker depending …
